Can you quit your job to qualify for a certain type of bankruptcy?
By on
here is our situationMy wife and I make a little more than enough to qualify for Chapter 7 bankruptcy. I had a loss in income, and my wife wants to stay at home with our son. Our son is in daycare for 10 hours per day, and we no longer want to live like this. If my wife quits her job to stay at home with the kids, will the court come back on us?She is not really quitting her job just so we qualify for Chapter 7 bankruptcy, it’s more that we have always wanted her to stay at home anyway, and it seems like the right time to do it. Plus we want to give up our house to live with parents closer to family. We are also overwhelmed with debt currently.Isn’t that what bankrupty is, to have a fresh start?
